New dress - Butterick 5351

I look at this photo and all I can think of is that I really need a new background - seriously, dead surfboards and my recycling? Glamorous much?? These are the second lot of photos of this dress, Lucia did the first lot and I must say that although her photography skills are maybe a little too obscure and arty, she is a hell of a lot nicer to me than Siena who on one hand can take better photos but also told me I was a hopeless model, way too awkward and had 6 chins...nice!
Butterick 5351 was was totally inspired by this one. I love this lady's blog. She has killer style and sewing skills. She always looks so freaking amazing. I love the idea of a while sundress, but I am just not old enough yet. I still spill on my clothes and I often can been seen wiping my hands down my front as well - I know, gross! Maybe one day I will be seen swanning around in a white sundress or even jeans, but for now I stick to darks and patterns.
I am not sure how to write a review. I had fit issues as usual. My bust is small and I have small shoulders which makes anything fitted a nightmare. The top part of this dress is an 8 and I still had to pull in the top band another 2 centimeters for it to fit properly. I should have lengthened and widened the bust darts to make the fit better too (as the dress cuts under my armpits) but I am just not skilled enough to know how to fix a problem I can see. As usual a muslin would have been a really good idea! Curse my eagerness! The skirt is a size 10. I used a gorgeous cotton from Spotlight. The dress came together really well. If you are a proportionate lass then this dress would be a dream to sew up. My yellow belt is from Sportsgirl and the sandals are Sole Society.
OH YEAH! - Who says I am a hopeless model!

Gorgeous dress! It looks lovely on you. I'm with you on the white dress thing. I frequently wipe my hands on my clothes. It's a habit I don't think I'll ever grow out of.

Great dress Sophie, and lovely modelling! What would a teenager know...
The idea of muslins and fit issues is what keeps me sewing for the kids rather than me, maybe I should just start to learn how to fit thing, there's an idea...
