Japan - Part 4
Miyajima! If you make it to Japan, I highly recommend you make the trip to Miyajima, just off the coast of Hiroshima. Miyajima is beautiful and other worldy. Siena and I had a wonderful day there and I think in hindsight we should have spent a night on the island. Next time for sure.
Miyajima is famous for a few things, one them being its Torii shrine. It is quite a sight to see, looks like the shrine is just floating on top of the water, completely surreal.
Another thing that Miyajima is known for is the wild deer that inhabit the island.I have no idea what kind of deer they are (a pretty kind though) and although called 'wild' they were extremely tame verging on a tad annoying (one tried to take a lick of my ice cream!).
Siena and I did not pre arrange our outfits for that day, I know it seems like polka dots were the choice. It was weird how often our outfits co ordinated; black, red, blue and white were on high rotation for both of us. I LOVED teasing Siena, called her my twinnie and BFF. She especially liked it when I called us gal pals, she looked liked she was about to vomit.
Maple cookies are everywhere in Miyajima. They can be filled with custard, chocolate or red bean paste. I preferred chocolate and Siena fell in love with everything red bean paste (it was not my favourite).
We ate ice cream everyday. That is all.
Siena's doppelganger.

Omg, I love that even the deers went with the polka dot theme! Looks divine, you really got around in a couple of weeks!
So cool.you're right---those deer are the cute kind.
Lovely pics. Looks like you both had a great time. The deer look so sweet and I do remember all the unusual food treats from our trip to Japan.
loving your posts on Japan Sophie.
Siena took some great pics!!!!
Seeing the memorial for Hiroshima really made me think about how 9/11was such a tragic event - but had been preceded by an equally evil and tragic event in Japan all those years ago. Poignant.......
The last photo makes me smile :). You're a great Mom :)
