bus stop baby

It was a very exciting day when Lucia received her bus pass - it had been a long time coming. She has been wanting to catch the bus home since year 1 but I was not comfortable with it at all. Finally nearing the end of year 2 after much pestering I said she could bring the application form home, which she did, which sat on my desk for a long time. Finally, with Lucia standing over me, I filled it in and a week later she had her pass.

The first day she caught it, I followed the bus, and made the mistake of getting too close so she saw me. She met me at the bus stop with tears welling in her eyes demanding why I treat her like a baby, like a kindergartener...from now on I walk to the bus stop with Eva and with Lucia's scooter and we make the short walk home in happy joyful moods. It's the little things in life isn't it!

That is so wonderful - that she feels so confident. Really fantastic for her.

It is hard to let them go.
(*stating the bloody obvious!*)

What a milestone Sophie. I totally 'get' following the bus though!

Oh I can't imagine how hard that must be...growing up is hard...ON PARENTS!

Oh - that's just so Lucia. Oozing with confidence and just wanting to fly! Good on you for showing faith in her. So hard though huh? I don't even like dropping Ellie at school and not taking her all the way in to her classroom....

Love Mel.

Gosh, she's so grown up! On a bus all by herself! I can't imagine getting there one day, I'm trying to savour every little moment too!
