Needing to keep my little Eva's chest warm has become so important to me lately!! I feel like my mum is whispering in my ear reminding me to do this especially now she has developed another cold this Winter and with it a nasty cough.
I was so inspired by Kate and Nan's take on quilted clothing I decided to use this element in this gorgeous little vest taken from Ottobre Winter 6/2009
I used a beautiful linen on the outside and quilted flannelette to it and the lining is that velour I bought from the oppy that is just going and going! So you can imagine how warm and cosy this little vest is, plus I think pretty cute too!
Whilst I was rummaging through my fabric drawers looking for suitable fabric to make Lucia her own vest (because of course she loves what I maker her sister, not her Grrr) I found a long strip of faux sheepskin that I snaffled from Spotlight's lucrative remnant bin (I love that bin!) and immediately thought of my new niece Phoebe and wanted to make her one!
it certainly is going to keep her little chest warm and I hope it is comfortable too. The suede like fabric is so soft and silky (Lucia took an off cut to school today to rub on her face...) and the faux wool is so warm.
We are seeing little Phoebe tonight so hopefully it fits (and her mum likes it - yikes!!)

That is darling! What a sweet little vest... and it looks very cozy!
Such lovely vests. I particularly like the first one. The combination of linen and the ribbon is adorable. Just like lightweight pants, I'm a huge fan of vests on kids - keeps them warm but not too warm when they're in a playing frenzy!
Cute, cute cute. I love the first one! Poor little Eva the post cold cough does seem to always drag on and on.
