new pants

For my middle girl. You're all jealous of our Astro Turf aren't you? Gorgeous stuff!

She was pretty happy to put them on and do some major catwalk turns and poses in them. I thought I was onto a winner.

But when the first opportunity came up for her to wear them she was full of excuses why she couldn't, at the same time telling me how much she really did love them, grrrr!

I might have to pull the grouchy mother on her one day and force her to wear them, they are so warm and comfortable.

p.s I could not get Eva out of the shots - she was loving the shoot as much as Lucia was!

They're adorable! Hopefully, she'll start wearing them happily for you. I bought some lightweight denim the other day to try to make a very similar pair of pants with patch pockets from the Making Childrens Clothes book by Emma Hardy.
And, don't laugh, but I am thinking about getting some astro turf to put under the swings/cubby in the yard. It's just mud most of the time and it gets tracked into the house. Drives me mad!

I think they turned out wonderfully. I suppose it's hard to be even a little unique at that age, she probably loves them and just doesn't quite have the confidence to break from the school uniform of jeans and t-shirt.

Sophie I love them too. Funny I made Charlotte a pair last year, I think, with exactly the same type of pockets (out of Aunty Cookie fabric) and she wouldn't wear them either, until this year when of course they were too short.

Very groovy indeed. I love lightweight pants on kids. They keep them covered while still allowing them full movement to get up to their crazy antics.

Doesn't it break your heart when you put time and effort into makeing something only to be told it won't be worn!
If only we could get inside their little heads and find out why!
I hope she changes her mind soon - they are really lovely.
