i'm back

From visiting my sister and her beautiful new baby, Jesse. Isn't he gorgeous!

He is, however a pretty high maintenance little thing - lots of crying and at times fussy feeding which makes for a really exhausted mum. I was so happy to be able to go and help her with the big job that is raising a baby and give her some advice that was valuable to me, like, you can be the best mum in the world and still have a crying baby.

I am definitely of the opinion that it takes a village to raise a child - it's way too big a job for 1 or 2 people. I felt very privileged to have some really quality time snuggling with Jesse and hearing his mum snoring quietly in her room having some delicious well deserved sleep was very satisfying.

Goodness me, he IS adorable... but sorry to hear he's also exhausting. I mean, they all are, but some are particularly 'special' in that department. I know, I've had two! Tell your poor lovely sister that he must be highly intelligent. Wakeful, alert babies often are. (Well, that's how people used to console us. Time will tell...)

He is divine.

Hope he finds his groove out here in the big world soon. How wonderful to be able to help out (myself and my 2 sisters all had babies last year but all live far enough apart to not be of much physical help to one another *sigh*)

What a good, wise sister you are.

I definately agree with the village to raise a child theory. Raising children is hard, serious work..............

Love that crop of hair!!! What a sweety.

He is such a sweetie! And your sister is very lucky to have you come and help - those newborn days are such a blur, and it makes everything so much easier if you can snatch some extra sleep.

You are such a good sister. I couldn't agree more about it taking a village. I think it's best for the parents, but also for the baby to feel as though they are part of a bigger, loving, world.
PS He sure is a cutie! Look at all that hair.

You are a very good sister. I wish someone had told me that you could still be a great mother and have a baby that doesn't stop crying.
I really did (and probably still do) think I was a crap mother because I couldn't settle a baby in my arms.
And, yes, that is one gorgeous little boy!

So glad that you managed to get in lots of cuddlrs and lend a hand. Caleb was one of those babies and I had to slog it out on my own and it was bloody hard - I am sure a little break would of meant the world
