feeling better

Sometimes getting a plan together and having a bit of a routine can do wonders for my soul. Like for example, making my bed every morning. It's a small one but forcing myself to do it somehow makes me breathe a bit easier. I LOVE my Ink & Spindle fabric in the frame. The Ink and Spindle girls actually had a go at me at the stitches and craft show when I told them I had framed the fabric - they did not get how precious it is to me.

I just recently made these pillowcases, at the time I was thinking what a crazy waste of such beautiful fabric, but I have changed my mind about that. Saving some things is fine, but being able to use and see your favourite things everyday makes more sense!

In keeping with my plans and routines right now (because it will all disappear once I am feeling on track) was taking Eva to the health food store and stocking up on tonics and homepathic remedies to help boost her immune system and stimulate her appetite (as she has lost weight unfortunately). Caring for her can feel too big for me sometimes so taking back control and forcing myself to make decisions on how I want to deal with it helps enormously.

I also forced myself to do some market sewing, even though it was the last thing in the world I wanted to do. I completed 4 pairs of shorts, 1 bib and 1 nappy cover and felt so good about that - I made a note to remember that the next time I felt like crap - completing a project gives you such sweet satisfaction.

So I traced a few patterns to reward myself for being such a good worker!

I am getting back to reading my favourite blogs and noticed that Corrie is having another giveaway, she is the most generous blogger I know! Also I realised last night that I won a giveaway I entered on Virtually Sally. That just made my day, $80 to spend on a new light - so generous, so kind, so unexpected.

Also, thank you to everyone who commented on my last post, thank you also for the emails I received - it means the world to me.

Love the pillowcases and the framed fabric. It's a great combination too. And you are so right: It's so much more fullfilling to use the items we love everyday instead of letting them collect dust in a closet because we want to save them for... some special day that never comes :-) (It worked like that for me anyway, so I changed to your approach too :-)). Are those Ottobre patterns I see? Can't wait to see what you are making.

Good to hear you are feeling a bit better. I have been thinking about you a lot. Sending you lots of positive thoughts... x

I love both that you framed some of your favorite fabric, as well as used it to make pillowcases. You're right - what's better than to surround ourselves with the things that we love? I have my running medals hanging in our bedroom. May seem strange to some, but I love having them in that space, seeing them, and being reminded of all they mean to me. I'm so glad to hear that you are doing better, and that you feel like you are taking control again of Eva's health. Sorry to hear about her weight loss. Hopefully now that she's home she'll start gainig those pounds back again. Hugs to you.

I had only found your blog when you wrote your last few posts and didn't feel like I could comment yet, it felt a bit out of the blue. But I just wanted to say how brave you are and so honest. I hope your precious Eva gets better and stronger every day and that you feel in control of your life and full of inspiration.

Glad to hear everything is back on track for you - you certainly have been a busy beaver. And you are right - it makes far more sense to make something out of your fabric, I am planning to actually start using more of my fabric too.

It's great to hear that you are feeling a bit better. It's amazing how crafting can give you some serenity sometimes. The fabric looks fab in the frame & your pillowcases look beautiful (I have fabric envy now!) x

I'm taking a page or two out of your book, and using the "too-good-to-cut" fabrics ON US, and staying on routine when things get crazy.

Still praying for Eva.....

Oh, and wherever did you find that fishy fabric!??! It's too cute for words!

Am glad to hear that the mists have lifted and you are feeling on top of things. Sometimes that flat feeling is just way too overwhelming. I love that you are so open and honest and that this blogging community is so utterly sincere in its response to the crises that we have and choose to share in this arena.

Hope Eva is on the up and up.
Warm thoughts
Monique

I agree with what you said about the pillowcases. I think it's silly when people use their favorite things on special occasions. I'm all about really appreciating what you love.
