Things have been a little tricky around here lately. Eva is sick at the moment with her usual bronchiolitis style virus, making her clingy and unable to sleep for long periods. There is also the added stress of being on the ready to take her to hospital if she needs oxygen therapy. So far though she is holding her own and is coping pretty well just with flixotide and ventalin.
There have been lot's of requests for "read bookie" Unfortunately it's the same book every time, and whilst I love (adore) this book, I now blame Eva for almost making me hate it!
Sadly, Andrew and I have finished the West Wing. Wow, what a ride. I can't recommend it enough, I also recommend having some West Wing marathons, heaps of fun when the kiddies are at the grandparents for the night and you get a good sleep in. (Thanks Belinda for the recommendation of Damages, it looks awesome)
Whilst Andrew feels bereft and empty after the end of West Wing, I am feeling pretty good about my upcoming adventures. I am seriously in love with my hex quilt. I am really loving picking it up each night and doing a few rows. I wanted to only use scraps but I don't have a lot of yellow in my stash, you can see I have used some fabric for only 3 or 4 hexes if that's all I had. I have purchased a little bit of fabric but not much at all. I am learning a lot about quilting. I was initially using the wrong needle and thread which my mother in law sorted for me, but also about using light and dark colours to create a particular pattern. The stripey Lightening Bugs fabric is so eye catching but I only had a little of it and now I wish I had only used really soft less defined fabrics so it was almost blurry going from one pattern to the next rather than really striking differences.
I am really excited about starting Bizness Babes on Monday. Andrew and I are going to travel on the bus together into town, just like the good old days when we first met. Our conversation though I am sure will be a little different than sweet talk and stealing kisses, more along the lines of how Siena is doing at school, what are the plans for the weekend, and are we up to date with our bills!
I can't wait to meet Cindy. I can't even remember how we came to be friends but I feel like I have known her forever. I am bummed about the pain of long distance friendships but excited to think that I now have a perfectly good reason to go to Melbourne in the future.

the hex's are progressing. I've just started doing some small dresden plates. It's been interesting easing in the rounded part but fun and just as addictive. I hope Eva is on the mend soon. Have you managed to get your hands on Damages? I've lent season one to my mum, I'm sure she probably nearly done. If you want to watch it. Let me know.
I hope eva starts feeling better soon. Poor thing!
That quilt is looking more and more lovely as it grows!
Good luck getting ready for Mathildas. I was going to have a stall at the next sydney one - but unfortunately cancelled a few months ago. I had to accept I just didn't have the time. I treasure my sanity too much - LOL. So sad as I was so looking forward to it.
I hear you with having Eva unwell. My little one has been on the flixotide and ventolin for 2 weeks now.... on a lighter note that hexagon quilt is stunning - absolutely gorgeous! Well done and good luck at Bizness Babes next week!
I LOVE those hexagons! And the pick up, put-downability factor. Hmnnnnnnnnn......
Oops - and meant to say - I hope Eva has a super speedy proper recovery. Those sort of lergies certainly bring a new dimension to winter.
We just finished re-watching The West Wing on Fox a few months ago and now they are replaying it again but not from the start so Jeff is getting another fix. Hope Eva is better soon
Oh my, that quilt is looking so beautiful!
Poor little sweetheart! Having little ones ill is the most stressful thing I think. I hope she's better soon as can be.
I can see why you're in love with that quilt - it's gorgeous!
Oh the poor little munchkin, hope she's feeling better soon and you can get a break from icky bubbas.
Quilt is looking sensational. Hey I have some scraps of the stripey lightning bugs fabric if you want it, lemme know and its yours :)
I'm so sorry to hear that little Eva has been sick! My boys all had bronchiolitis and RSV; it's very scary, and very, very draining. I'm praying for Eva's speedy recovery, and for you to get some rest soon!
(And oooh, my -- that quilt is so pretty!)
I hope Eva's on the mend. Its so hard when they are sick, and I hear you on the book. In our house its Gordon from Thomas and friends. Your quilt looks stunning I love the different shades of yellow. I have a feeling I might get into some paper piecing soon.
I know I am a little sensative at the moment but nearly cried at that. Hope you are having a great business week. The quilt is looking absolutely amazing. I love the colours. Sorry to hear Eva has been unwell, there is nothing worse
I stopped by your blog to make sure you were ok, and here was this post! I was beginning to worry the lack of blogging meant something was up with Eva. I sure hope she starts to feel better soon and that you all get some rest. Poor little bug. Your hex quilt is BEAUTIFUL! I'm amazed you did all that by hand. I'd love to be able to ride the train with my hubby to work. It seems sometimes it is hard to fit in that alone time. Enjoy the discussion about bills ;)
I'm glad Eva's back to throwing things off the balcony now (loved reading that sentence!). The hex quilt is looking brilliant!!
