I haven't been doing as much sewing as I like, mainly from just being busy but also Eva will not let me doing anything alone when we are home together, which is cool, but by the time she is in bed I am just tired.
I cut up and appliqued a few girly bibs for the Market, I haven't had much success with girl bibs, so I am working on a new angle. I have done quilted bibs, patchwork bibs, pocket bibs and now I am doing applique deer and cat bibs.
I copied the deer from a Christmas plate here at home, then traced it onto a piece of rigid plastic to use as a template, it worked really well. I would post a photo of what I mean but I lent the template to Lucia to make some pictures and now I can't find it.
I have also been indulging myself with a little rewards incentive program. I wonder if anyone else does this. I kind of bargain with myself; cut out and applique 5 bibs and then do 10 minutes of sewing for me.
It's really sad I know but I just can't do production line sewing. I mean I probably could do it, but I don't like it and I don't want to get resentful about sewing, I need to maintain the love whilst being productive and business minded - a tricky thing.
This scrappy scarf came to be during a mega smock making endeavor, I made about 6 neckline casings and then did about 15 minutes of the scarf, then threaded elastic through the necklines and came back to the scarf etc. I really like it. I was completely inspired by One Girl and Aunty Cookie (how could you not be). My brother said it looked like I had sewed tea towels together - I hope it looks a little smarter than that!!

I had my breast check yesterday and everything looks really good, I have really healthy breasts, so healthy in fact that the surgeon said they were one of the easiest pairs she has examined!! The mammogram was pretty uncomfortable but everything else was a breeze.

Yay Soph. So glad Eva is feeling better, poor little chicken. And an extra Yay for your breast check, glad it went well. happy sewing. see you soon. xxx
Great news about Eva and glad your breast check went well. What a relief! I love the bibs and the scrappy scarf. I don't think I could do production line sewing either. I find sewing two of the same hard work :)
Glad to hear all is well with Eva and that your mammogram was a success. I love the deer too!
Your brother obviously hasn't any inkling how fab tea towels can be! Your scrappy scarf - and the rest of your crafties for that matter - are fab. Excellent to hear health is good on all fronts. Pun not even slightly intended.
I struggle with production line sewing too. I think that's why I op to do so much hand sewing. Not only does it give a nice finish I can do it watching DVD's or time spent waiting around for the kids when their at dance or footy etc. Plus I think people notice the details and know it hasn't been mass produced. Good luck getting everything done in time.
