Do you remember I posted about my niece going into hospital - well we went and visited her on Tuesday afternoon.
Ellie is in traction after dislocating her neck. She needs to stay on her back with a weight (up to 5 lbs) pulling her neck back into place. She is only 3, so as you can imagine pretty miserable and just bored. She was so excited to see Lucia and begged her come and watch Toy Story 2 with her on the bed.
Here they are laughing at the bit when Zurg falls down the elevator shaft. This part actually makes me kinda sad, I always saw Zurg as being really misunderstood, he just needs a cuddle, you know?

My sister is doing a stellar job of keeping Ellie entertained, I know she is pretty exhausted. I definitely took away some ideas for the next time Eva is in hospital - the bigger they get the harder it is to keep them happy.
my friend Carmen asked what we were doing with the girls fabric that I posted about on Monday, so here you go:

It's the good old pillowcase dress pattern. I am in love with this dress. I was really keen this time around to choose really stunning fabrics and with an uncomplicated pattern. Firstly because you obviously can sew a greater number of simple designs but also because I was concerned about the pattern out shining the fabric, which should take center stage. I don't any other pictures of the different dresses but I will get some soon, they are just so beautiful, so Christmassy and summery. Can I add something else? I know this has been multi topical BUT I did say I had been busy. Lucia had orientation today at BIG school. Oh my, she was off and running, so much confidence we could bottle it and make mega bucks. She ran ahead of me and found her own chair in the massive gymnasium. I had to hunt to find her. Her name tag depicted her group so she quickly found all the other 'blue stars' and joined in like she had been there for years. I was left on the sidelines, with the other nervy mums hoping our kids would be all right. There were plenty of activites the newbies to do to encourage friendships and the like and Lucia kept reminding me after each activity that she was learning so much at school and she wanted to come back tomorrow too. Ah, bless her little heart.

Of course Siena found us in the playground and had to join in on the fun.

You have been busy - love the dress very cute! Poor Ellie, I hope her recovery doesn't take to long. And I am so glad Lu loved school.
You have been busy! Poor Ellie - how long does she need to stay in the hospital for? I can only imagine having to keep a three year old happy constrained to a bed on her back :| The dresses are beautiful! Looking forward to seeing the others :)
oh my goodness! poor little ellie. hope she is on the mend real soon.
very cute dress!
Ellie needs traction at least till Friday, then they will observe her over the weekend, hopefully she will be completely recovered by then.
